In Slovakia, since the beginning of this year, on the basis of exceptions, they have eliminated 27 problematic bears of brown. A total of 37 decisions on a total of 159 individuals in the districts of Banská Bystrica, Liptovský Mikuláš, Detva, Kežmarok, Kysucké Nové Mesto, Poprad, Prievidza, Trenčín, Turčianske Teplice and Zvolen. This was stated for TASR The Ministry of the Environment (MoE) SR. He stated that 79 bears, including deaths, were lost.
“Based on the issued exceptions, 27 brown bear individuals have been eliminated so far in the districts of Banská Bystrica, Liptovský Mikuláš, Detva, Kežmarok and Zvolen,” approached the Envirorezort.
At the same time, the Ministry of the Environment also evaluates further applications for the catch of bears. “All the catch is realized thanks to real data from the army and local communities that give timely reports. The whole process is properly documented and professionally evaluated in accordance with the legislation in force,” he claims.
The Ministry is also ready to issue exceptions to the prohibition of commercial activities for the sale of bear meat based on applications and in accordance with the applicable legislation.
