Peter Lipa is one of the most important personalities of the Slovak jazz scene. His music is based on the combination of jazz and blues and is characterized by an emphasis on the text.

As the first singer in Slovakia, he applies Slovak in jazz music. In his repertoire we find traditional jazz standards, Latin American jazz, jazz chanson, spiritual, funky and rock. Since 1976 he has been a dramaturg and promoter of Bratislava jazz days, the largest Slovak jazz festival. In addition, he is the president of the Slovak jazz company and is actively involved in the organization of other jazz events at home IV abroad.

He caught the guitar in his hands as a 16-year-old. The game was so popular during his adolescence in society that almost everyone controlled it. When he seized the guitars, he also started singing. The first group came strings, sang English and released the first solo album only after 1980 in Prague, when he was around 40.

“There was such an atmosphere in Slovakia that I wasn’t quite taken here. I was even cut off from editorial plans,” revealed. “So when I released in Prague, then I had an argument that we were only one republic and it would be.
