Not only washing white, but also dark laundry is a bit of alchemy. The result always shows what our skills are, what we have already learned and where we are still groping a bit. To make black clothes really dark, use an easy trick that will do the job for you.
Black clothes should not be missing in any wardrobe, whether it is a woman or a man. Black is not just the color of sadness and ruin, it is the color of elegance, temperance and moderation that we can dress in the theater, for an interview, but of course also in the aforementioned sad moments. In addition to the suits and dresses, which will take care of in the treatment plant, but we also have T -shirts and other small pieces that we wash at home. Does it seem to you that after a few such cycles they lose color and gray? Probably yes, but we can prevent it.

Coffee as an excellent helper
Coffee contains strong natural dyes that can help with renovation of dark shades of clothing. It does not have to be only completely black laundry, but also dark blue, brown and the like. Therefore, before washing such clothes, first cook coffee. You will need about two larger cups. When you cook three, you can enjoy one of them before you start work. Those you have left, then pour (without a saddle) into the washing machine and turn on the gentle work cycle. That’s actually all you have to do. The others will take care of the washing machine and coffee.
For fine washing in hand
But there are also pieces of clothing that you wouldn’t put in the washing machine for anything in the world. They may be so expensive that you do not want to risk their damage, or these are very fine materials that exclude such care about themselves. Even then nothing is lost. The beginning of the process will be the same – it is necessary to cook strong black coffee. Then add it to hot water, in which you also soak fine dark linen for about half an hour. After this time, remove it and rinse it well in cold water.
In short, nature can do wonders
Why does it work? It is nothing but “natural chemistry”. The black color that causes coloring of clothing (but also other surfaces, including tooth enamel) in the coffee is caused by melanoids. These are substances that arise during the so -called Maillard reactions – a process that connects sugars and amino acids when roasting coffee. Melanoidins, dark brown to black compounds, are easy to bind to the fibers of the textile, so they can revive the dark clothes, but beware: also leave durable stains on light laundry.
Take care of the laundry right
In order to avoid problems with the fading dark clothing, experienced housekeepers (but also gentlemen) have some good advice. Laundry should always be washed inside out. This is because the friction on the surface of the material is significantly reduced and there is no rapid wear. Washing gels produced directly for dark laundry will also help. Manufacturers know why the bottles indicate this way. And finally: just like the sun beautifully brightens white clothes, it also lightens the dark. Therefore, always try to dry them in the shade, or at least always turn them inside out. You will see that you will rejoice in his distinctive black.
