The semifinal of the Club World Cup, on Tuesday (8), between Fluminense and Chelsea, should mark an unexpected reunion between striker João Pedro and the club that revealed him.
the 23 -year -old debuted well and, with the absence of suspended Delap, has a good chance of starting the match as a starter.
João Pedro is a child of Xerém, in the interior of Rio de Janeiro. He debuted for club professionals in 2019 at the age of 17, under the command of Fernando Diniz.
In his first and only year playing in the main team, the striker participated in 37 games, with 10 goals scored and 2 assists accounted for. He soon stood out and was sold to Watford from England.
João Pedro likes to score goals in Fábio
Interestingly, João Pedro’s main victim with Fluminense’s shirt was Cruzeiro, who had goalkeeper Fábio, today idol and highlight of the carioca tricolor, as a starter.
Of the 10 goals scored by the then tricolor jewel, four went to the fox. Two of them were on top of Fabio – the other two, in Rafael, today’s holder of Sao Paulo – one of them a great goal.
In the game of the round of 16 of the 2019 Brazilian Cup, in Mineirão, João Pedro took advantage of Danielzinho’s cross and hit a beautiful bike 52 minutes into the second half, with no chance for Fabio.

Fábio defended João Pedro’s decisive penalty
With the great goal, Fluminense tied the confrontation, which would be decided on penalties. In the dispute, however, better for Fábio, who defended bad charges of young João Pedro and took Cruzeiro to Wednesdays.
Sold by Tricolor to Watford, João Pedro has changed his club twice in England, yielding money to the coffers of the Rio team. First, he went to Brighton, where he played for two seasons, before heading to Chelsea last week.
