Hospital emergencies are more difficult and the debate heats up in the red lines. Cecilia Meireles and Miguel Prata Roque confront the lack of political leadership, institutional disorganization and the urgency of concrete solutions to save the NHS. Listen here to the podcast version of the Red Lines program, issued at SIC News on July 7
In these red lines dedicated to the collapse of urgencies and the crisis in the health system, Cecilia Meireles criticizes the lack of leadership and clarity on the part of the health minister, stressing that problems are not only solved with emergency plans.
It also points to the absence of a clear strategy to deal with intermittent emergency and argues that the minister should “punch the table” and present concrete results.
Already Miguel Prata Roque focuses his comment in the lack of transparency and institutional disorganization, highlighting the absence of credible data about the functioning of emergency and the response times. It also criticizes the government’s opacity in the dissemination of nominations and remuneration in ministerial offices, and points out flaws in the articulation between entities such as INEM and the Air Force. More humility and honesty – is a silver request for Roque in the way politicians communicate and face the problems of the National Health Service.
The debate also passes through the controversy around the statements of arrival in Parliament, where children names were invoked to illustrate alleged distortions in access to public school.
Silver Roque classifies the episode as “deplorable” and accuses the party to manipulate public perception based on falsehoods. Meireles, in turn, considers the attempt to suggest that foreign children should not be in schools, stressing that “not all in politics”, defending integration as a national priority.
A debate of ideas on national and international topics. At SIC Notícias on Monday, with Catarina Martins and Cecilia Meireles, and Wednesday, with Miguel Morgado and Miguel Prata Roque. Listen here to other episodes:
