Cazétv and the Globo Group are broadcasting the Club World Cup, which has generated on social networks a rumor that “Cazétv is from Globo”. However, the rumor is false. THE Cazétv is mostly from Livemode, a Brazilian media company and sports marketing. In November 2022, Streamer Casimiro Miguel agreed to launch the channel in part with Livemode, becoming the face of the business and minority partner.
It is Livemode, with its directors, which negotiates the events that will broadcast live.
Who owns Cazétv?
The Livemode agency, owner of most of Cazétv, has directors come from the old interactive sport and has support from XP Investimentos and sponsorship of major brands such as iFood, Coca-Cola, Itaú and Brahma. Livemode announced in April 2024 the sale of a minority slice from the company to General Atlantic and XP Private Equity, in an operation whose value and percentage acquired were not disclosed.
The Cazétv project gained prominence thanks to the charisma of Casimiro, which won a huge fan base with its relaxed style. Cazétv set up a strong professional structure, with studio staff, experienced directors and major sponsors, and successfully positioned themselves in the age of sports streaming. In July 2024, Cazétv acquired the transmission rights of Ligue 1 to the Brazilian public, further expanding its presence in the market.
This growth occurred precisely at a time when streaming became dominant in Brazil: currently 44.8% of Brazilians watch more streaming than open TV and cable together. Cazétv took advantage of this turn to establish itself as one of the main live sports channels, broadcasting events such as the men’s and women’s World Cup, the Brasileirão, the Pan American Games and the Olympics.
Although it hired professionals who passed the Globo, there is no corporate bond or control of Grupo Globo in Cazétv. The channel operates autonomously, directly negotiating its transmission rights.
