“He has control over the institutions, but not about the people” – so Karuti Kanyinga, professor of development studies in Nairobi, talks about Kenya President William Ruto. It was only on Monday that eleven people were killed again in nationwide protests against Ruto’s politics and the police force in the country. “Violence will continue to increase,” warns Kanyinga to the AP. He fears that the young people protest and the opposition to Ruto will provide an example.
