The mayor was arrested preventively on June 27, accused of leaking information from confidential inquiries of the (Superior Court of Justice). The investigation obtained conversations on his cell phone that show that he monitored investigations to inform political allies, according to the PF.
At the time, he said that the investigation is not about the current mandate and that everything will be clarified. “At this time, it is important to provide all clarifications and keep preserved the population of Palmas and the municipal management,” he said in a statement when he was arrested.
The acting mayor and deputy of Siqueira Campos, Pastor Carlos Velozo (Agir), published a note wishing to be ready. “In this moment of care and hope, Pastor Carlos Velozo calls on the entire population of Palmas to unite in prayer for health and prompt recovery of Mayor Eduardo Siqueira Campos, so that with faith and serenity we can see him restored as soon as possible,” he said.
