The US has hit the worst measles epidemic in the last 30 years. The reason is, according to experts, declining vaccination distrust. The country registers more than 1277 cases and three deaths.
The United States recorded the worst measles epidemic in 2025 in 2025. This stems from data published on Monday by Johns Hopkins University, TASR writes according to AFP report.
The number of vaccinated decreases
This serious and highly contagious disease, which was once considered eliminated in the US due to vaccination, returns against the background of the declining share of vaccinated and increasing mistrust of healthcare organs.
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 1277 cases of infection has been recorded in nearly 40 countries. More than 60 percent of them were registered in Texas, says the Baltimore University. The total number of cases in the US has been the highest since 1992.
The US is already registered with three deaths
The disease has so far required three victims, including two children, and in all three cases they were unvaccinated persons. However, experts believe that the number of victims is underestimated and expressed concerns about the lack of reporting of cases.
In the US, they last experienced death in connection with measles in 2003 – three years after measles in the United States were declared eliminated by vaccination.
The last major outbreak of disease in the US was in 2019 in Orthodox Jewish communities in New York and New Jersey, where they registered 1274 cases of infection. However, there were no deaths.
Robert F. Kennedy about the vaccine claimed to be dangerous
Experts blame the American Health Minister Robert F. Kennedy the younger of deteriorating the health crisis by causing fear of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine. This highly effective vaccine claims to be dangerous and contains fetal remnants.
Cases of infection this year also reported in Canada – more than 3,500 cases, including one death, as well as in Mexico, where almost 2600 cases were infected and nine infected died.
