There is a report on the social networks, telegram channels or pro -Russian websites on the alleged mandatory mobilization of Ukrainian women. According to these claims, Kiev has been planning to plan up to a million women to the army – including mothers, teenagers or medical workers – from September.
This statement does not match reality. It is a disinformation narrative, which aims to evoke panic and weaken confidence in Ukrainian leadership. It is a classic example of hybrid propaganda that Russian channels spread to undermine public support to Ukraine.
Disinformation sources argue that women’s mobilization will begin in autumn 2025. These narratives are based on alleged leaked documents, manipulative videos, or statements of former officials. For example, the former advisor of President Landsta, whose statements are not an official opinion of the government.
Spoons, and not evidence
There have also been photos or videos to act as evidence in the online space. In fact, however, it is spoiled without legal or factual value. This type of hoax spreads in the waves.
It is first published by a source without verifiable origin, then it is taken over by social networks with emotional comments and eventually appears on disinformation sites. This creates an illusion of truth. The Ukrainian authorities strongly denied these claims. “There are no plans for the mandatory mobilization of women. The reports on the mobilization of a million women are completely false and come from pro -Russian information operations.”
According to Ukrainian law, women can enter the army voluntarily. The mandatory registration applies only to selected professions and has a registration character. This does not mean automatic fighting.
Dangerous type of misinformation
The Ukrainian news agency also points out that the spread of this rumor is part of the Information War: “Russian propagandists have targeted rumors about the mobilization of women to cause chaos and question the defenses of Ukraine.”
This type of misinformation is dangerous. It causes panic, undermines confidence in the institution and weakens international support to Ukraine. In addition, it aims on sensitive topics such as family or women’s position. That is why it spreads particularly fast.
Let’s pay attention to similar claims. Let us monitor credible sources and be cautious in torn contexts and unverified citations.
