The National Security Authority (NBU) recommends parents to inform children with pitfalls on the Internet during the holidays. It draws attention to the risk of inappropriate content, fraud or online predators, and reminds that the key to a safer flight is open family communication. TASR informed the spokeswoman of the NBU Kristína Petro Garaiová.

“Talk to children about what applications, games and social networks use. It is important to understand what risks are in platforms,” advises the office. Parents recommend setting up parental control and content filtration, for example through family pairing and age limitations in games.

The NSA points out that children can meet violence, vulgarisms or adult content when playing games and social networks on social networks. In addition, they can spend money on purchases of virtual items – such as skin or game names. “It will help if you turn off the option of purchases in apps,” stated.

On social networks, children can provide fraudsters data through false competitions. “Teach the children to come first to consult you before they get involved in one. Teach them to ignore those that ask for personal data. Parents will help parents check the authenticity of the offers on the official website,” emphasizes the NBU.

At the same time, it recalls that countless people are using anonymity in the online world. Attackers can marry peers in games or social networks to gain and manipulate the confidence of children or acquire personal data. “Educate them and explain to them that they should not communicate with the unknown and also do not share their photos, videos or personal information. Children teach how to report and block suspicious accounts or platforms,” recommended by the Office.
