With more than 20 presentations spread across all regions, event celebrates 40 years of national punk, reveals new names in the alternative scene and occupies squares and cultural centers with a lot of distortion, attitude and energy
São Paulo will vibrate in the compass of distorted guitars and the sound urgency between July 7 and 13, with Rock Week 2025. The free program promoted by the Municipal Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economics brings together 24 shows, crossing all areas of the city – from Itaim Paulista to Butantã, from north to center – in a true celebration of music as urban and political expression.
The curatorship bets on meeting two fundamental generations of: Punk pioneers who shaped the Brazilian scene since the 1980s and new representatives of the indie and alternative, which expand the horizons of the genre in 2025. In the same stage, historical influence and contemporary pulse live.
The kick-off took place this Monday (7), at the Itaim Paulista House of Culture, with the band Afro Punk handle of Mahin, followed by the innocent veterans, symbols of the São Paulo punk explosion. This Tuesday (8), the Youth Cultural Center receives the noisy return of lixomania and cholera, while the iconic Ariel the invader assumes the discourages at the intervals.
The 9th holiday will be marked by a line-up with female and suburban punk DNA: the arrogant, statues on fire, 365 and The Mönic perform at the Butantã Culture House. Already in the M’Boi Mirim Culture House, names like Hateen and shouting HC shake Thursday with weight, speed and emotion.
In the heart of Sao Paulo, Patriarch Square will be occupied by three exponents of the new generation: the irreverent Sophia Chablau and a huge loss of time, the popular cricket and melancholy and sophisticated, which follow the album tour no star.
Saturday (12) will be one of the highlights of the programming. In addition to DJ Andreia Ultrachick sets, the afternoon and night in Patriarch Square will feature the viscerally intense garagefuzz, think and the 40 -year commemorative show of the album “The concrete already Rachou”, by the mythical Plebe Rude. At the same time, Lapa’s tendal will be the scene of Ariz’s controlled fury and the sound power of basement rats, maximum legend of Brazilian punk/hardcore.
The closure, on Sunday, also at Tendal da Lapa, presents against the sky and the enemy, and also brings the debut in Brazil of the band Argentina Eternal Innocence, which celebrates its 30 years of Punk trajectory alongside Brazilian Dead Fish, with the launch of the collaborative single “Against all”.
Much more than shows, Rock Week 2025 is a street call, listening and meeting. An invitation to occupy public spaces to the sound of guitars, accelerated batteries and shouts that echo resistance, freedom and transformation.
