Current US Open champion, vice in Australian Open and Roland Garros and number 1 in the world, Aryna Sabalenka will compete for another Wimbledon semifinal after turning on German Laura Siegemund, who had been one of the tournament’s surprises. The duel ended with partials of 4/6, 6/2 and 6/4.
Sabalenka never won the traditional tournament, but played in the 2021 and 2023 semifinals. In 2022, she was left out of competition due to restrictions imposed on Russian and Belarusian athletes because of the war with Ukraine.
In the semifinal, she will face the American Amanda AniSimova or Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who face each other on Tuesday (07/08).
