Six people were detained by the Judicial Police (PJ) on Tuesday by By universities and public schools funded by the Plan of Recovery and Resilience (PRR), the authorities announced.
The operation was the first to be directed in Portugal by the European Attorney’s Office, in coordination with the Porto Regional Research and Criminal Action Department.
According to PJ, the detainees are an administrator and three employees of a technological company, an employee of a concessionaire company and a civil servant.
AWARDS OF 20 million euros
The defendants are suspected of having integrated an “organized and systemic criminal scheme, to obtain an illegal information in public and private hiring procedures, through the delivery of property and non -heritage advantages to employees of the contracting entities.”
At issue are awards of at least 20 million euros.
In a note, the European Attorney’s Office needs investigation related to “projects designed to acquire computer systems by a university and public schools, in projects funded by the Plan of Recovery and Resilience (PRR).”
