Strong monsoon rains on Tuesday caused extensive floods in the mountain valley between Nepal and China. According to the local authorities, they claimed at least one victim, and 28 missing and flood wave eliminated one of the main bridges connecting both countries. The death of one person was confirmed in Nepal and, according to local authorities, there are at least 11 Nepalese and six Chinese. The Chinese state television CCTV reported that after dawn it was hit by its border area of landslide and the missing is another 11 people. Rescue work continues.
The floods swept several houses and trucks waiting for customs controls at the border. The monsoon period in Nepal from June to September brings heavy rains that cause floods and landslides. Experts warn that they are becoming more devastating as a result of climate change.
