Xiaomi launches its 2nd electric car and CEO provokes Apple

According to preliminary data from CPCA (China’s Passenger Car Association), the 1st Xiaomi model – Sedan Su7, launched in March 2024 – was one of 7 models that sold more than 20,000 units in June this year. There were 23,225 units in total.

SU7 numbers, sold at 215,000 yuans (US $ 29,000), and the demand for the newly released model made Xiaomi update their vehicle sales projection.

In January, the Chinese company estimated to sell 300,000 cars. Now the new goal is to deliver 350,000 units by the end of the year.

Xiaomi’s 2nd launch is available in 3 versions:

  • Xiaomi YU7 Standard — 253,500 yuans (US$ 35.330);
  • Xiaomi Yu7 Pro – 279.900 Yuans (US $ 39,000); E
  • Xiaomi YU7 Max — 329,900 yuans (US$ 45.979).

The model can be purchased in 9 outer colors and 4 colors for the interior. The car also allows connectivity with smartphones and other devices.

It is equipped with an autonomous steering system, although this type of steering cannot yet be used in China for lack of regulation.

The battery autonomy in the standard version is 835 km. In Pro and Max versions autonomy is reduced to 770 km and 760 km, respectively.
