The president also defended the expansion of the Mercosur-India agreement to reduce commercial barriers and highlighted the potential of exchange between the two economies. “Today, only 14% of Brazilian exports to India are covered by the agreement. We have a lot to move forward,” said Lula, who cited the need to deepen contacts between the two nations in the tourism, business and cultural exchange sectors.
India is currently the tenth largest commercial partner in Brazil. In 2024, bilateral trade totaled $ 12 billion. Brazilian exports reached US $ 5.26 billion, with emphasis on sugar, gross oil, oils and airplanes. Imports total US $ 6.8 billion, making India the sixth largest origin of imports to Brazil.
