Beijing (Reuters)-Torrential rains swept areas of China on Wednesday, when Tropical Storm Danas soaked coastal technology centers, while the more inside rains caused landslides and sudden floods in a 1,400 km arc.
To aggravate the authorities’ challenge, a high -pressure subtropical system has heated the northeast coast of the economy of US $ 19 trillion and central provinces since last week, overloading energy networks and plantations.
The world’s second largest economy faces increasing threats of extreme weather conditions, which meteorologists associate with climate change. Chinese meteorological authorities asked residents to stay at home, as the Danas storm – which weakened from a typhoon after causing two deaths in Taiwan – began to dump the water that had sucked from the Southern Sea of China and the Taiwan Strait in the coastal provinces of Zhejiang and Fujian.
Danas are expected to deposit up to 30 centimeters of rain in some parts, closing schools and placing the authorities along the rivers that feed the main ports of the cities of Fuzhou and Xiamen warned for sudden floods, according to Chinese state broadcaster.
Heat waves
The high-pressure subtropical system, covering the monsoon clouds inside China and Danas rainfalls, continued to turn over the central China and the east coast, going from Shanghai towards Beijing on Wednesday, bringing almost record heat to the megacities of Shanghai, Wuhan and Changsha.

People in northeastern China were advised to avoid leaving home during the hottest hours of the day and staying hydrated after reports of sunshine -related fatalities last week.
China does not provide an official counting of heat -related deaths, although national media occasionally report fatalities citing local authorities.
