Trade relations between the Asian and European country go through a turbulent moment, with imposed restrictions of the 2 sides
The spokeswoman for the China Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, said on Wednesday (9.Jul.2025) that the EU (European Union) leaders need “recalibrar” their mindset in relation to the Chinese. The Asian country and the European bloc have had disagreements in trade relations in recent months.
“We hope that the EU truly establishes a more objective and rational understanding of China and seeks a more positive and pragmatic policy compared to China. We hope that the EU realizes that what needs to be rebalanced at the moment is the EU mindset, not economic and commercial relations between China and EU”these ning.
Commercial disputes between Europe and China have already resulted in concrete measures against both sides. Last month, the EU decided to ban the participation of Chinese companies in health bids with a value of more than 5 million euros. Already in July, the Chinese government announced the same restriction against European companies.
One of the European complaints against Chinese practices refers to government subsidies to make China companies more competitive.
The Chinese government spokesman stated that China’s subsidies are in accordance with WTO (World Trade Organization) rules and that Europeans also use government incentives to accelerate their development.
Ning said from 2021 to 2030 the EU will provide more than 1.44 trillion euros in various types of subsidies, and over 300 billion euros were effectively issued by the end of last year.
“We hope that the EU truly establishes a more objective and rational understanding of China and seeks a more positive and pragmatic policy compared to China”he declared.
According to the spokesman, China is willing to increase its imports of European products. On the other hand, it wishes the flexibility of high -tech product purchase restrictions for the Asian country.
“The EU public purchasing market is far from being as fair and open as the EU claims. In fact, there are many hidden barriers.”these ning.
