As ENEM tests (National High School Exam) are known to be interdisciplinarythat is, for having issues that address topics and knowledge that are not unique to a single discipline – But two or more, seeking to establish a connection between the subjects.
It is an approach that requires the student a deeper and more integrated understanding of the topics. And yet one for good results.
“Studying for ENEM interdisciplinary means integrating knowledge from different areas to better understand topics and solve issues that require multiple skills, as many issues do not fit into a single area, but a broad contextualization”Comments Milena Fiuza Villani, Pedagogical Director of the Positive Teaching System.
She gives some tips to optimize learning focused on interdisciplinary study for Enem:
Study for themes and not by isolated disciplines/components
Instead of studying history or biology separately, organize your studies by thematic axes, such as:
- Environment: involves, geography, chemistry and sociology
- Technology and Society: involves physics, philosophy, sociology and writing
- Citizenship and Democracy: involves history, philosophy, sociology and currents
- Globalization: Involves geography, economy and current acts.
Use several sources for your studies
For the theme “Technology and Society”, for example, it is worth combining the reading of journalistic and scientific texts with explanatory videos, check out commented questions and write one with a specific focus. One possibility is “the impact of technology on human behavior”.
Use real projects and problems as a starting point
Search current and complex themes that require critical analysisas the water crisis in Brazil, which allows the approach through various disciplines. Examples: water scarcity and climate (geography), (biology), pollution and water treatment (chemistry) and unequal access to water (sociology). For the newsroom, it is worth considering the construction of a intervention proposal.
Mount Interdisciplinary Conceptual Maps
Whether by hand or with the aid of technology, which highlight explicit relationships between concepts, using phrases or connection words to define them. Start with a central theme and branch to different areas of knowledge. This method facilitates the viewing of the connections between the contents.
Practice writing writing with multidisciplinary repertoire
Enem’s newsroom requires studying a theme, think: What are the historical concepts linked to this? Is there any scientific phenomenon involved? How is today’s society affected by this? What would be a possible government action?
Solve questions from previous editions of Enem by theme
Separate issues by theme and see how ENEM values this connection between areas. This helps you to recognize standards and understand the logic of proof.
Study in groups (or use virtual forums)
Talking about topics with colleagues or on online communities helps see the same problem from different optics – Something essential in interdisciplinarity.
