Helicopter falls on Yanomami Earth and leaves 2 dead

A helicopter fell into the Yanomami Indigenous Land in Roraima, on Monday (7.Jul.2025), and killed 2 indigenous people. The other 3 people who were on board survived.

According to the company Voare – Taxi Air, owner of the Squirrel B2 helicopter, the accident occurred around 4:30 pm. In, the company reported that the aircraft was being used in medical care in the surucucu region.

The Air Force arrived at 8:38 am on Thursday (8.Jul) for rescue operations. There was one already on Monday (7.Jul), but the mission was interrupted because of “adverse weather conditionsAnd resumed the next day.

Of the 3 survivors, 2 were crew members of the company and 1 was an employee of Sesai (Secretariat of Indigenous Health). They suffered light abrasions and were taken to Boa Vista.

According to the company, “The causes of the accident are still unknown and will be determined by the competent authorities ”.

“Voare Air Taxi reports aeronautical accident on Monday afternoon, July 7, 2025, around 4:30 pm, involving one of its rotating wing aircraft, a B2 Squirrel helicopter, prefix pp-living, operated on aerometic service mission, which occurred in the Surucucu region, in the Yanomami Indigenous Land.

“The Air Force aircraft arrived at the scene of the accident on Tuesday (07/08) at 08:58. Of the 5 occupants on board, two fatal victims, both indigenous, and 3 survivors – a Sesai server and 2 crew members – who had only light abrasions. The 3 survivors were transported to the Surucucu base, where they will follow to Boa Vista later.

“The causes of the accident are still unknown and will be determined by the competent authorities, pursuant to the current aeronautical legislation.

“The company is available to collaborate fully with the investigations conducted by the responsible bodies.

“New information will be communicated in due course as there are official updates.”
