Petistas who are part of the first level of the government, including names with office in the Planalto Palace, suffered setbacks in the elections made by their state directories.
The party made the votes for its management positions last Sunday (6). The was the favorite of Lula, Edinho Silva, former mayor of Araraquara and former government minister of (PT).
In the dispute of the states, the candidates of Márcio Macêdo (General Secretariat of the Presidency) and (racial equality) were defeated in the first round in the disputes by the state directories.
The candidate defended by (institutional relations) to the command of PT Paraná went to the second round, but with disadvantage in relation to the opponent.
Although the definition of the new national command of the acronym was made by a large majority, the election was marked by internal divisions and power disputes that left opposite sides exponents of the acronym in the states.
Márcio Macêdo supported Cássio Murilo’s candidacy for the presidency of the petista directory in Sergipe. The winner was Senator Rogério Carvalho, with whom Macêdo has several local power disputes.
Minister’s allies say he did not participate in the campaign because of his attributions as minister in Brasilia. According to them, the political group of Macêdo would have entered the dispute only to mark position and obtain votes for the proportional election, which distributes the other positions in the party structure.
In Rio, Anielle Franco supported the candidacy of federal deputy Reimont. The elected to the presidency of the PT Fluminense directory, however, was Diego Zeidan, son of the mayor of Maricá, Washington Quaquá.
The minister told the report that she supported the candidate alongside other important names of the acronym, such as the leader of the acronym bench in the House, Lindbergh Farias, federal deputy Benedita da Silva and former president of the Rio Legislative Assembly, André Ceciliano.
“Victory and defeat are part of life!” She told the report.
The candidate supported by Gleisi for the presidency of PT’s Paraná directory, state deputy Arilson Chiorato, did not lose the election, but went to the second round at a disadvantage. He was behind Deputy Zeca Dirceu, son of former Minister Jose Dirceu.
Chiorato was Gleisi’s advisor and is the current party president in the state. In addition to the minister, he has the support of the president of Itaipu Binacional, Enio Verri.
Zeca Dirceu wants to run for a place in the Senate. Being president of the state party could give him powers that would practically guarantee the possibility of running for office.
Already the Minister of the Civil House, did not suffer a direct defeat, but his closest political group was out of the presidency of the PT of Bahia. The Bahian petistas elected Tássio Brito to the position.
Tássio is from a minority wing of the party, but was supported by senator and former governor Jaques Wagner. Rui Costa did not campaign. Part of his political group, however, supported Jonas Paulo’s name to the party’s command in the state.
Allies claim that Costa even considered launching a candidate, but did not take the idea ahead. Throughout the campaign, the minister’s silence came to be understood as an acceptance of Tássio Brito’s name.
