Sergei Lavrov travels to visit North Korea

The Russian Foreign Minister will visit the DPRK at the invitation of the local ministry. The program is not yet known. Negotiations will probably focus on preparing a visit to Kim Chong-una in Moscow.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit the Democratic Republic of Korea at the end of the week at the end of the week. The North Korean news agency KCNA brought information on Wednesday, TASR writes based on AFP, Reuters and Jonhap reports.

Lavrov will arrive in North Korea at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday 11 July and will stay until Sunday, July 13. The exact program program is not yet known. However, it is assumed to meet Minister of Foreign Affairs of CCHE Son-Hui and probably also with leader Kim Jong-un.

The South Korean agency Jonhap expects the main point of the meeting to be the preparation of Kim’s visit to Russia. President Vladimir Putin invited North Korean leader to Moscow last year during a visit to Pyongyang. He was accompanied by Minister Lavrov.

A visit to Moscow is to take place at a time when both countries significantly strengthen mutual cooperation. Last June, they also signed a mutual defense agreement.
