At least 161 people are known to be missing in Kerr County as a result of the floods in Texas, he pointed out Governor Greg Abbott, who cited the “combined efforts of police forces.”
“It is very likely that more people will be added to this list,” took Abbott, quoted by CNN Internacional
The governor said authorities worked together to identify “those who may have been here and that no one was aware” to widen the list of missing people, including people housed at camps or hotels that were not recorded in these places.
Abbott also mentioned that people affected by floods in the center of Texas “need to know that Texas is involved in this with the people of Hill Country, right here. We will not leave until this work is not completed.”
“The main task at this time remains the location of all people affected by this flood. There are still missing people. We have to find all the people who are missing,” added Abbott.
The governor said that this Tuesday made an aerial visit to the affected area to better evaluate “what is necessary to do exactly to help the community.”
“He worries a lot,” says Abbott about Trump
The Republican Texas governor said he spoke to President Donald Trump after catastrophic floods and that US president “worries a lot” about those who have lost their lives.
“He couldn’t stop talking about how sad about all the girls who lost their lives,” Abbott said about his conversation with the president. “He reported his own understanding of what happened to what really was a tsunami wave that swept many of them.”
Abbott said Trump wants to “step forward” and ensure that any needs the state will be met “very quickly”.
