For the second consecutive day, US President Donald Trump came out in defense of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
In a new publication on the Truth Social Network, on Tuesday night (8), Trump again criticized the processes faced by Bolsonaro in Brazil.
“Leave the great former president of Brazil in peace. Highway hunt !!!”
Along with the message, the US president, where he said Bolsonaro is suffering a political attack similar to what he himself says he faced in the United States.
“I’ll be watching Jair Bolsonaro, family and thousands of his supporters, very closely. The only trial that should be happening by Brazil voters – this is called election. Let Bolsonaro alone!” Trump wrote on Monday.

In the first publication, the president of the United States defended Bolsonaro stating that the former president of the Republic is suffering a political attack as happened with him.
In the publication, Trump does not directly mention lawsuits against Bolsonaro, but speaks of persecution and reaffirms the innocence of the former president.
“I have been watching, just like the world, as they did nothing but go after him, day after day, night after night, month after month, year year! He is not guilty of anything except for fighting for the people,” he said.
Bolsonaro is a defendant in the criminal case of the Supreme Court (Supreme Court) that investigates the coup plot after the 2022 elections. He is charged with five crimes, including armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, and coup d’état.
If convicted, the former president can take up to 39 years in prison, according to experts consulted by CNN before the trial.
In the publication, Trump claims to have met Bolsonaro and recognizes that he was a “strong leader” and a good negotiator. Both have traded compliments since the 2018 elections.
In May, the former president even met the senior counselor of the US State Department for Western Hemisphere, Ricardo Pita. Shortly thereafter, Bolsonaro said Trump follows what happens in Brazil, including the STF action.
Bolsonaro is ineligible until 2030 after judgment of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) for abuse of power and misuse of the media. The reason is to hold a meeting with ambassadors in July 2022, in which the then president attacked the electoral system without evidence.
Subsequently, Bolsonaro was again convicted of ineligibility by the TSE, this time for abuse of political and economic power during the Independence Bicentennial ceremonies, on September 7, 2022, during the election campaign.
