The minister decided to withdraw from the (Supreme Court) and send to the (Superior Court of Justice) the investigation on suspicions of sales of court decisions.
Zanin was a rapporteur of the Supreme investigation because there was a possibility of being related to the cases.
The two main targets of the operation in Mato Grosso are the judges João Ferreira Filho and Sebastião de Moraes Filho, who were removed from activities at the beginning of investigations in August last year. They have denied having committed irregularities.
Message exchanges between the magistrates and lawyer Roberto Zampieri, raised suspicions that there have been payments in exchange for favorable court decisions.
The minister understood that, at the moment, there is no evidence that the findings about the judges are related to the others, related to the STJ.
Zanin’s decision followed an understanding of the (Attorney General’s Office).
In a request made on July 4, the Attorney General says that the case must go to the STJ “without prejudice to the Supreme Court if elements of evidence indicative of involvement of forum authorities in the Supreme Court are collected.”
Other investigations continue with the minister, including suspicions in the courts of Mato Grosso do Sul EE and also sales of decisions by STJ servers.
The distrusts that weigh on STJ servers are related to, suspected of brokering a decisions selling scheme in the court.
