31 people get trapped after lading of industrial tunnel in Los Angeles

About 31 workers were arrested to collapse an industrial tunnel in the Wilmington region of Los Angeles, the city’s fire department said on Wednesday night (9).

All professionals were rescued, said the mayor of the city, Karen Bass, in a publication on social network X.

“LAFD has just reported that all workers who were arrested in the tunnel in Wilmington have already left and were located. I just talked to many of the workers who were arrested. Thanks to all our brave rescuer who acted immediately,” the mayor wrote.

No injury has been confirmed, according to the Fire Department of (LAFD).

The collapse occurred about 10 km south of the only access to the tunnel, said LAFD, adding that more than 100 rescuers were sent to the scene.

Also according to the department, the tunnel had a diameter of 5.5 was being built for municipal wastewater management.
