The controversy of the plane crash insurance that killed and four others in 2021 won a new chapter on Wednesday (9), with a new speech of Vitória Medeiros, daughter of Geraldo Medeiros, rugged aircraft pilot. In her Instagram profile, the young woman confirmed the information that Dona Ruth Moreira, the singer’s mother, demanded 50% of the value of insurance for other victims of the accident. Initially, the information had been released by journalist Ricardo Feltrin “the plane insurance had $ 1 million to be divided. They were five victims of the accident and was a death insurance. That is, divides, among the five victims, the people they have to receive. In the case of my father, me, my stepmother and my two brothers. And so each dead with their dependents,” said Vitória Medeiros in their video.
“The part of Marília Mendonça asked for 50% of this and it was not fair to me. This was not fair. We had to make a deal, if I would not go to the court. I was contrary to this decision until the moment I could,” he continued. “It’s a death insurance, so you have to divide. It is not according to other factors, according to death. There were 5 victims, all lives are worth the same, regardless of who was on earth, is a life and has their dependents.” Also according to Vitória, 50% of the money intended for insurance went to the family of Marília Mendonça and the rest of the value was divided between the remaining four families. “The part of Marilia was the part that had the most money there. The other families had less, needed more. My provider went away. This money was going to help each of the families a lot,” he explained. The young woman also said that, despite being contrary to the decision, she eventually accepted insurance as the process, which lasted months, was being postponed and causing problems for those involved.

According to Ricardo Feltrin, Dona Ruth sought the insurer less than 24 hours after the fall of the aircraft in Piedade de Caratinga, Minas Gerais, to learn the value of insurance. The value would be $ 1 million, which would be divided equally among families. Upon learning of the value, Dona Ruth would have sought the family members of producer Henrique Ribeiro, from Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho -who was an uncle and advisor to Marília -, the pilot Geraldo Martins de Medeiros Junior and the copilot of the plane Tarcísio Pessoa Viana and proposed with 50% of the total insurance value.
Feltrin states that Marilia’s mother used the argument that all victims were in the aircraft because of the singer and that if they refused to accept the agreement, she would file a lawsuit. Families would have accepted the agreement and divided the other 50%. Dona Ruth’s lawyer, Robson Cunha, did not deny the information, but told the Metropolis Portal that there is a “defamation campaign” against his client from the news that she and singer Murilo Huff, father of Leo, son of Marilia, compete in court the 5 -year -old guard.
