At the invitation of Deputy Pedro Longo, former minister and former deputy Aldo Rebelo will come to Acre on July 25 to attend a public hearing at the Acre Legislative Assembly (Aleac).
The purpose of the event is to discuss issues related to Brazilian environmental legislation and their impacts on production and development in the Amazon region, in addition to discussing the embargoes, the application of fines, the notifications of cattle withdrawal and the seizure of animals in rural areas of the state, as in the case of Resex Chico Mendes, which has been the target of Operation Sussuarana, triggered by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio).

Rebelo, who was rapporteur of the Forest Code in the House of Representatives, is currently one of the main scholars on the theme of the development of the Amazon and a great critic of the truculent actions of the environmental agencies, as well as the influence of foreign NGOs in the region.
The request for the public hearing, authored by Deputy Pedro Longo, was approved by the other deputies in Aleac.
For a long time, which has sought to find solutions for environmental and alternative embargoes that allow farmers to develop their activities with legal certainty, and also position itself as a pre-candidate for federal deputy, the event will be an opportunity to align directions and proposals for changes in federal legislation.
“The holding of this public hearing constitutes a valuable opportunity for the Acre Parliament to promote a broad, plural and democratic debate on the issue of sustainable development, bringing together different perspectives, experiences and knowledge, with the aim of building fairer, efficient and sustainable solutions for regional development,” said Longo.
In addition, Longo said that an application was approved for the installation of a special committee in Aleac, intended to deal with the environmental and land regularization of rural properties, whose activities will begin with the lecture by Rebelo.
