The Minas Gerais Civil Police concluded the inquiry into the fatal attack suffered by boy Guilherme Gabriel Couto, 12, and indicted the tutors of the dogs involved in manslaughter when there is no intention to kill. The case shocked the state in March this year, after the boy was brutally attacked by two Rottweiler dogs in Itabira.

The expert report revealed that there was negligence in the way animals were kept. According to the investigators, guard conditions allowed the dogs to escape the residence and reach the street. It was on this occasion that they attacked Guilherme, who had a brain death days later.
According to the Military Police, the dogs were extremely aggressive and dragged the boy to a nearby forest area. Witnesses reported that residents tried to intervene, making the animals back home. The severity of the lesions caught the attention of rescuers: perforations throughout the body, a deep cut in the neck and injuries in the abdominal region.
Faced with the threat represented by the Rottweilers, who remained violent even after returning to the residence, the police decided to shoot down the animals. The decision was made by the imminent risk to the physical integrity of the present and the impossibility of safely containing dogs – not even by the tutors themselves, a 27 -year -old man and a 45 -year -old woman, now responsible for the tragedy.
The attack took place on June 12, and Guilherme was transferred in serious condition to a hospital in Belo Horizonte. After four days hospitalized, he had the cerebral death confirmed on the 16th of the same month.
With the completion of the inquiry last Wednesday (9), the Civil Police formalized the indictment of tutors based on article 121, paragraph 3, of the Penal Code, which deals with manslaughter, attributing responsibility for death due to neglect in the restraint of dogs. By: CNN
