The lawyer of the French doctor Joël Le Scouarnec, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for rape and other forms of sexual violence on patients, apparently committed suicide. On Wednesday, the local chief prosecutor Frédéric Teillet informed about it in the city of France. He added that The circumstances of lawyer’s death are subject to investigation.
As AFP added, Maxime Tessier (34) was one of the two lawyers of the 74-year-old Le Scouarnec, One of the most famous sexual predators in the history of French criminalism. Children’s rights advocates claim that The case pointed to systemic failures. In this case, the prosecutor’s office described a former doctor as a “devil in a white cloak”.
Le Scouarnec committed sexual violence from his patients from 1989 to 2014 and replaced 30 hospitals. The average age of his victims was 11 years, the youngest was one year old, and the oldest 70. The doctor kept the diaries in which he recorded his actions, including the names of the victims. It was from these documents that some of his victims learned that they were raped a few decades ago during anesthesia or recovery from surgery.
French media admitted that The number of his victims could exceed 299 and could be about 400. However, many have not been identified or their cases are time -barred.
