The Federal Emergency Management Service (FEMA) should be dismantled, and made from the beginning to more effectively address natural disasters, Christie Noem’s internal security minister said today in a meeting on the restructuring of this service.
Noem, chaired by the FEMA Evaluation Council, acknowledged that the Service has mobilized resources and supported research and relief companies in its affected areas, but criticized previous “failures” in effectively dealing with natural disasters.
“It was slow to respond to federal level,” Noem said. “That is why the whole service must be dismantled, and re -made,” the US Secretary of State for the US said.
Although it has put forward similar positions in the past, Noem’s statement has not gone unnoticed as FEMA scales have been developed in Texas to assist in search and rescue operations after July 4, who left at least 119 dead and 170 missing.
