Former Corinthians president Andrés Sanchez was named at the center of a political crisis at the club. A Timão Corporate Card Invoice, dated January 2021, revealed personal expenses in the amount of R $ 9,416 on behalf of the leader, held between December 28 and 30, 2020 at the Pipa resort in Tibau do Sul (RN). Expenses occurred at a time when Andrés had already requested removal from the presidency, shortly before the end of his term.
The complaint initially came last month, through the “Official Mala” profile in X (former Twitter). From there, the invoice began to circulate behind the scenes and was confirmed on the afternoon of Thursday (10/07) through the site “UOL”, after contact with Andrés himself, who until then denied the case. The charge includes accommodation, boat tour, meal in restaurants and various shopping – including spending on a hairdresser.
Imagine the shame for the Corinthians institution and the current management, to see the club from the Leo Dias program (@euleodias) and know that they spent 15 days with the complaint in hand and did not do the minimum to find out and bring an official version to the fan. pic.twitter.com/XbBCMyzd7X

Reflexes of controversy with Andrés behind the scenes of Corinthians
The revelation of the issue encouraged opposition to articulate a process of expulsion from the former president of the associative framework, taking advantage that he no longer has a majority in the deliberative council. The episode also splashes directly in the current political scenario of the club, on the eve of the General Assembly scheduled for 9 August, which will decide whether or not to stay from Augusto Melo in the presidency. Melo’s allies evaluate alerting partners on a possible return from Andrés to power if the renewal failed – including support for a possible candidacy by Antonio Roque Citadini.
This Thursday, Andrés admitted that the expenses were made by him and without bond with the institutional activities of Corinthians. He claimed to have confused his club card with his staff, both issued by Banco Santander, and said he was not informed about the charge by the finance department. According to Andrés, the error only came to light now, four years later, after being released on social networks.
The club’s financial department has confirmed that he sought Andrés to charge the reimbursement. Allies of the former president claim that he intends to make the payment before the formal opening of any case on the board. In an official note published on social networks, Andrés spoke out:
“As soon as I came to me supposed invoice with my personal spending not reimbursed to the club, in the order of R $ 10,000, I asked them to find out the truth of the facts. Confirmed the expense, I asked them to calculate the amounts, with interest and monetary correction, so that I can immediately arrange for this pending. Surrounded, nothing has been found.
Faithful.
