Reduction is mainly attributed to an interruption and a slight decrease in cases of respiratory virus (VSR) in young children and by influenza to the elderly
The new Infogipe Bulletin, released on Thursday (10), indicated that most regions of Brazil have dropped in cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome. This reduction is mainly attributed to an interruption and a slight decrease in (VSR) cases in young children and by, between the elderly. Despite this positive trend, the numbers are still considered high, which remains a concern for public health specialists.
Tatiana Portella, a specialist at Fiocruz, highlights the importance of strictly following health protocols. It emphasizes the need to keep the vaccination card up to date, especially against influenza and Covid-19. Also, in case of symptoms such as runny nose, body pain and headache, it is crucial to seek medical attention, wear mask, avoid agglomerations and maintain hands hygiene. These measures are fundamental to contain the dissemination of respiratory diseases.
However, not all regions follow this downward trend. The state of Rio de Janeiro, for example, is facing a significant increase in cases of respiratory syndrome, especially among children. Influenza remains a concern, mainly affecting the elderly. In São Paulo, low adherence to influenza vaccination is alarming, leading some health facilities to open on Saturdays to facilitate the population’s access to immunization.
