PTR-Rural is aimed at farmers and fishermen affected by the breach of the Fundão dam
The President (PT) participates in this Friday (11.Jul.2025), from 10am, the ceremony that marks the beginning of payments of the income transfer program for family farmers and fishermen in Linhares (ES).
The action is part of the socioeconomic reparation of the populations affected by the breach of the Fundão dam in Mariana (MG). About 22,000 fishermen and 13,500 farmers in MG and MG municipalities will receive the benefit.

The program establishes the transfer of income for 4 years, with the allocation of R $ 3.7 billion. The amount will be 1 and a half minimum wage per month, for up to 36 months, and 1 monthly minimum wage for another 12 months.
PTR-Rural, intended for family farmers, will be administered by, through (National Agency for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension), and PTR-Pesca, by.
The new Rio Doce agreement represents a renegotiation of TTAC (Transaction Term and Conduct Adjustment), signed in 2016 between the public power, the mining company Samarco and its controllers, Vale and BHP.
The companies are responsible for breaking the Fundão dam in November 2015, in Mariana (MG). TTAC has defined the basis for environmental reparation and the payment of indemnities to people, companies and public and private institutions affected by the disaster.
The disaster
The breach of the Fundão Dam took place on November 5, 2015 at the Samarco Minean Complex in Mariana (MG). The disaster released approximately 39 million m³ of tailings that devastated the Rio Doce Basin, resulting in 19 deaths and affecting more than 40 municipalities, 3 indigenous reserves and thousands of people along the river to its mouth in Espírito Santo.
