O which will be inaugurated next Monday, will open the basic emergency service on Saturday, from 08:00, announced on Friday the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Local Health Unit (ULS) Amadora-Sintra.
“The hospital will go into operation in a phased way and starting today, in some consultations. From tomorrow [sábado] we opened the under – the basic emergency service – and on Monday surgical and hospitalization activity, “said Carlos Sá.
Speaking after a visit to the hospital unit that will support the Professor Doctor Fernando Fonseca Hospital (HFF), the president of ULS Amadora-Sintra said that the activity will be done in a “phased form”.
“The hospital is in total operation. The volume of activity is that it will be increased in a phased way, exactly to ensure that the circuits are all working well and that everything is according to the patient’s security. The hospital from next week will be working in its fullness,” he said.
Service in operation from 8:00 am Saturday
The Basic Emergency Service of the new Sintra hospital goes into operation two days after being temporarily suspended in Mem-Martins, due to the transfer of services.
“The basic emergency service comes into operation tomorrow [sábado]from 08:00. Users who need to travel to the basic emergency service should first call SNS24 [808 242 424] . If they are referenced to the sub, it will be here at the hospital, starting tomorrow, at 08:00, “he said.
The New Sintra Hospital will allow to relieve the pressure of the HFFone of the largest in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tagus, meeting non -urgent cases in the emergency service.
“We will open all the valences that are possible, both at the level of the consultation and at the surgical level and at the level of hospitalization, and also, of course, the urgency, to allow more differentiated care and closer to the populations we serve,” said Carlos Sá.
Investment exceeded 62 million euros
The new hospital, which began to be built in 2021it is located in the Casal da Cavaleiro, parish of Algueirão-Mem Martins, with an area covered of 10,500 square meters and discovery of 49,000 m2.
It represents an investment from the Sintra City Council over 62 million euros and will benefit 550,000 users.
Carlos Sá explained that total investment was about 81 million euros.
“We are talking about an investment that has risen to 63.8 million euros, as regards the work, therefore, the construction of the building, and about 17 million euros, with regard to everything that is equipment and real estate, which were installed here at the hospital. We are talking about 81 million euros,” he said.
The Sintra Hospital has outpatient service, external consultations and exams, mental health unit, rehabilitation physical medicine, crop center and complementary diagnostic and therapeutic means, outpatient surgery unit with a block and recovery.
It also has a basic emergency service to make a 60 thousand emergenciesabout half of those held at the Amadora-Sintra Hospital, 60 hospital beds, pharmacy, sterilization unit and a space for teaching and training.
