United States President Donald Trump said on Friday that he intends to talk to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva “at some point, but not now.”
The statement, made after a question of the TV Globooccurs amid commercial tension between the two countries, after Trump announces a 50% rate on Brazilian products, which should take effect on August 1.
Trump also took the opportunity to defend former President Jair Bolsonaro, stating that he is being treated unfairly by the Lula administration.

“I know him well, I have already negotiated with him and I can say that he is an honest man who loves the Brazilian people,” said the Republican.
In recent days, Trump has been using his social networks to criticize what he calls “witch hunt” against Bolsonaro, which faces lawsuits in the Supreme Court (STF) for alleged coup attempt.
