English club plans to build a new stadium with 100,000 seats by 2031, replacing Old Trafford
Manchester United has announced that they want to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup final on their new stadium. The competition will be held in the United Kingdom, with games in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The new arena, with a capacity of 100,000 people, should be completed by 2031.
The new stadium will be built at the current site, which will be demolished after 115 years of existence. The project is part of the infrastructure modernization plans of the English club.
The work is budgeted at 2 billion pounds (about $ 15 billion) and is part of a regional development plan lasting 10 years. The initiative was presented by Lord Sebastian Coe, who was appointed to lead the project.
“Looking to the future, I see the chance to bring the Women’s World Cup to a new Old Trafford stadium in 2035. Beads are the only competitors, representing a rare opportunity to run for hosting the global family of football,”, ” disse Coe.
