Why is it important to sterilize glasses and how to do it quickly

After a year there is a time of canning again, so it is certainly not unnecessary to recall some of the main principles that we must not forget. We want the crop to last in glasses for a long time…

Although many prefer crop, it can hardly be possible for the entire crop, especially if we are lucky and we own a larger garden. At that moment we will be happy to return to the skills of our grandmothers and start the canning. The basis of success, which is behind the long durability of the preserved fruit and vegetables, is cleanliness – absolute cleanliness. This is achieved only by sterilizing glasses. Did you also think it was enough to rinse them with hot water?

Hot water is not enough

Many of us consider boiling water sufficient to destroy germs. It is true to some extent, but we still have some very resistant microorganisms that are not that simple. Therefore, you prefer not to settle for a cursory rinse of water jackets Z. Sterilization will be the right choice for anyone who wants to enjoy the fruits of their garden (and work) for the next year – without mold, fermentation and similar unpleasant consequences of our comfort.

Cooking is a long way

Of course, one of the possibilities of sterilizing the glasses before filling them is to cook in water. But it’s not easy at all. First, a relatively long time on the stove is needed, second, few people have so large a pot to fit more glasses at the same time and thirdly: does it want to work in such a job? The answer is usually quite clear. So let’s get into it a little differently, faster and better.

Just a quarter of an hour in the oven

What is the principle of sterilization? It is actually exposing the material to high temperatures that will surely destroy its undesirable “settlement”. There is no word about the water – so we are at the core of possible improvements. Once you wash the glasses well in the hottest water to get rid of any dirt, rinse and wipe them. Place the treated glass on a baking tray and place in a preheated oven. Set the temperature to 130 – 140 ° C and forget the jars for a quarter of an hour.

Don’t delay too long

After ten to fifteen minutes, you can turn off the oven, but leave the glasses in it until you have their filling. But do not delay too long, because when they perfectly cool, they can start again and other invisible marauders. So it makes it clear that sterilizing the glasses “in stock” does not have the right result. But it is a relatively fast process, you can use it when you take cucumbers by size, or you are cucumbling.

The microwave will also serve

Do you only need two or three glasses from the snack to a small dose of canned fruit? At that moment you can also use a microwave instead of a classic oven. Pour about two centimeters of water into the bottom, place them in the oven and turn it on for a minute to high performance. As soon as the water begins to boil and consists of steam, you have won and the microbe will not try for your crops.

Simply use the dishwasher

All these methods require manual washing and subsequent sterilization. But there is one more – bonus – method. The simplest for those of us who like to avoid washing any dishes. We can simply put the glasses in the dishwasher and let go. That’s all. Water and high temperature inside the dishwasher take care of everything – possible dirt, and even io sterilization of glass. Isn’t that excellent?

Don’t even let them cool down

Do not forget that whatever method you use, always fill the glass as soon as possible before they cool down. Then it is time to conquer everything perfectly and cook in a classic way.
