Peonies are plants that can change the appearance of our garden. It is not surprising that once we plant these specimens on our property, we want to have as much as possible in the following seasons. To this end, we can multiply the peonies ourselves. Thanks to this, our garden will sprinkle with beautiful flowers.
It is recommended to plant peonies at the end of summer, preferably at the turn of August and September. This is the perfect time to separate older carp and exaggerate young plants. In addition Peonies, which already have a well -developed root system, will be able to accept well before winter comes.
Avoid planting in late autumn, because young specimens may not have time to root and the frost will damage them. Making this spring is also not a good idea, although if we have no other choice, we can then buy seedlings in pots and move them to the ground in the period from March to May. Remember, however, to protect them in advance with an antifungal that will minimize the risk of infection.
Planting peonies is not complicated. We dig in the place we choose A hole that is to be about 50 cm deep. In the event that we are dealing with heavy and wet soil, it is worth additionally making a drainage layer to avoid water stasis in the future. Organic fertilizer should also be added to the hole to provide the plant with the necessary microelements.
This rule applies to most varieties. However, in the case of woody pens, the seedling is placed in the hole at a depth of 10-15 cm. It should be placed slightly obliquely. In turn, if we plant perennial varieties, e.g. medical or Chinese peas, then they should be planted at a depth of only 3-5 cm above the buds. Avoid too deep planting in their case, because it will delay it.

If you want to get free peony cuttings, it’s worth breeding them yourself. We can do it, among others, by the division of Karpa. It is basically the most popular and at the same time the most effective way to enjoy new plants. This treatment is best performed at the turn of August and September, When the peonies finish flowering and prepare for rest.
Remember that Karpa must have several healthy buds and a well -developed root system. We dig it and clean it thoroughly. Then we divide it with the help of a well -sharpened and disinfected knife.
