Next Sunday (13), after the final between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, the champion of the first edition of the FIFA Club World Cup will erect a beautiful trophy made especially for the new competition, 24 carat gold bathed, but with at least three laser-recorded information errors.
Revealed to the public in November last year and designed by FIFA, the trophy was produced by New York jewelry Tifanny & Co. at the suggestion of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump.
“In fact, the idea, I have to say here too, it was from Mr. Jared Kushner, that once we were having fun together and he had the idea: ‘Why don’t you talk to Tiffany about it? They are good doing trophies’,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino, during the Club World Cup draw, in December in Miami.
Inspired by the Armillary Sphere – Astronomical Instrument of Antiquity – and the Golden Discs of Voyager probes – which were sent to space containing information about the Earth – FIFA’s Golden Trophy has texts and laser -recorded images, 13 languages and Braille, which tell the story of football.

The first mistake, in very small letters, is in a text written in the center of the Spanish and French English trophy, reporting the history of attempts to make a Club World Cup.

But another existing mistake is precisely that of the opening date of the competition. On the front of the trophy is written in Spanish that June 15, 2025 is the date of the inaugural match of the first edition of the FIFA Club World Cups.
But the start of the competition was anticipated in one day compared to what was scheduled, and so started on June 14, with the game between Inter Miami, Messi’s team, and Egypt’s Al-Ahly.
Finally, in one of the edges of the new trophy, the names of the 32 clubs participating in the competition are written, including Léon. But the Mexican club was eventually prevented by FIFA from participating in the World Cup because it belongs to the same group that owns Pachuca. The entity’s multiclub property rules prove that clubs of the same owner compete for the same tournament.
Léon was eventually replaced by Los Angeles FC in the competition, but not on the trophy.
Questioned by the report of Sheet Regarding the information errors recorded on the trophy, FIFA did not send a response until the publication of this report.
The inauguration of the Club World Cup trophy will be transitory, and the champion club of each edition will win a definitive replica, while the original will return to FIFA headquarters. In the trophy, there is space available to record the emblems of the winning clubs of up to 24 editions of the tournament.
FIFA treats this year’s Club World Cup as the first edition of a new competition. The former Club World Cup, now officially renamed the Intercontinental Cup, will continue to be played every year. Santos, Flamengo, Grêmio, Sao Paulo, Corinthians and Internacional, in the Order, are the Brazilian teams that have already won this competition.
