Robot coyotes ready for action
Why settle for a robot when you can have a robot coyote? This seems to be the idea of the US Army, which is developing a cyber base predator to keep aerodromes free of hazardous wildlife.
A constant problem of airports is the presence of birds and other wild animals that represent a serious threat to aircraft and operations on the ground.
Birds are the greatest danger due to damage they can cause when they are sucked by the engines, hit the windshields and pack on control surfaces.
These damage can be so serious that, as the US Civil Aviation administration recalls, a cannon of chickens that used compressed air to firing bird carcasses against aircraft structures, simulating the impacts of birds.
In addition to birds, other wild animals, such as rabbits, can wander the tracks or damage the equipment.
To prevent this from happening, all kinds of countermeasures have been used, including air drones, hawks, dogs, lights and even gas cannons to chase away the fauna.
Now, the US Army Engineers Research and Development Center (ERDC) is developing COOTS-ROBOTO THAT HELP IN THIS TASK.

Why coyotes?
The addition of plastic coywood dolls to assemble on the platforms provided right balance between the beautiful and the alarmingwith a total cost of about $ 3,000 each.
According to New Atlas, the robot coyotes were tested on several military aerodromes, including the thought of the Naval Air of Pensacola, Florida, famous for being the home of the Blue Angels stunt team, Fort Campbell, Tennessee, and the Whiting Field Naval Air Station in Florida.
