A court in Madagascar has sentenced a man to a surgical castration for one child in 2024, a judicial official said the first time this sentence has been imposed in the country.
The man was sentenced to rape and attempt to kill a 6 -year -old girl in a 30km community from Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, explained the Attorney General of the Court of Appeal where the case was heard.
“The person accused in this case was sentenced by the court to life imprisonment with forced labor and castration,” he added in a statement distributed in the media by the Ministry of Justice.
The castration of castration was adopted last year in Madagascar in the context of a 10 -year -old minors’ rape. The government explained that it had introduced the law because many such cases have been recorded by the courts.
“Today’s ruling is a strong and important response from the judicial system aimed at serving as a warning to anyone who has corresponding malicious intentions,” the Attorney General said.

Surgical castration is applied as a punishment for some sexual crimes in the Czech Republic and Germany, with the consent of the convict. Louisiana became the first US state last year to foresee this sentence for the perpetrators of some sexual crimes with victims of minors.
Chemical castration, performed by drugs and can be reversed, has been adopted as a punishment for sexual crimes in many US states, but also in countries such as Poland and South Korea. Britain also examines its adoption.
Human rights organizations argue that both of these practices are unethical and that efforts should focus on encouraging abuse victims to denounce abuse, protect them from retaliation and broader prevention efforts.
