The Workers Party (PT) started a new campaign on social networks entitled “Defend Brazil” in response to Donald Trump’s announcement on the imposition of 50% rates on Brazilian products exported to the United States.

The initiative seeks to question the positioning of political groups that maintain support to the former president, even in the face of measures that impair the national economy.

The campaign includes audiovisual materials that criticize what the party calls “false patriots”. In one of the videos, the narrative emphasizes: “They stole the flag, lied wearing the flag, betrayed her on their back.”

The content also questions those who “continence to other flags” and maintain “cowardly silence” in the face of harmful measures to Brazil.

Communication strategy

The PT intends to maintain this new campaign simultaneously with the previous one, focused on the taxation of “super rich, billionaires, banks and bets”, which obtained significant engagement on social networks. The decision was made at a recent meeting of the subtitle, which positively evaluated the results of the previous strategy.

As part of the initiative, the party also promotes the distribution of caps with the message “Brazil Sovereign”, in different colors, opposing the “Make America Great Again” caps associated with Trump. The strategy aims to broaden the reach of the campaign beyond the traditional basis of party supporters.

The campaign uses visual resources and messages that highlight the importance of defending national interests, emphasizing that the Brazilian flag “is not a prop, not a traitor’s costume, but a symbol of a working country that must be defended.”
