Opinion was prepared by the board responsible for the supervision of the Legislative and Judiciary of the Court of Auditors
The Federal Court of Audit () identified evidence of irregularities in the use of public resources during the stay of the licensed federal deputy (PL-SP) in the United States. The court’s technical area recommended a deeper investigation on the case. The opinion was prepared by the board responsible for the supervision of the Legislative and Judiciary of the TCU and validated by the leadership of audits. Now, it will be up to the rapporteur of the process, Benjamin Zymler, to decide whether to accept the recommendation and request the Board of Directors and the Technical Control Unit of the House of Representatives to investigate the possible irregularities.
The investigation began from a representation of the federal deputy (PSOL-SP). The psolist argued that Eduardo Bolsonaro would be conducting political articulations in the US against Brazilian national sovereignty, which could configure a crime. To support the recommendation, the TCU board analyzed the parliamentarian’s absences in the House plenary, based on information from the Transparency Portal. According to the document, of the five absences recorded in the period, only one would have been justified.
The justifications presented were a license for health care and, later, to deal with particular interests on March 20. However, the TCU points out that there are no indications that the discount on the deputy’s remuneration has occurred, as determined by the House rule in cases of non -justified absences.
According to the TCU technicians, the irregularities, if proven, may have generated a loss of up to R $ 120 thousand to the public coffers. The court considers that the case must be determined by the House of Representatives itself.
