Ue willing to negotiate tariffs with the US, but does not rule out

Von der Leyen warns that the imposition of this rate “would interrupt essential transatlantic supply chains, to the detriment of companies, consumers and patients on both sides of the Atlantic”

European Commission chairman Ursula von der Leyen, said, on Saturday that Brussels is still willing to negotiate with the US to reach an agreement before August 1, after Donald Trump announced 30%tariffs.

“Meanwhile, we continue to deepen our global alliances, firmly rooted in the principles of rules -based international trade,” said von der Leyen.

The president of the community executive also warned that the imposition of this rate “would interrupt essential transatlantic supply chains, to the detriment of companies, consumers and patients on both sides of the Atlantic”.

The official indicated that “a few economies in the world equate the level of opening and commitment of the European Union with fair trade practices”, which “has consistently prioritized a solution negotiated with the US”, reflecting “a commitment to dialogue, stability and a constructive transatlantic partnership.”

Trump announced today that it will impose 30% rates on EU products from August 1, in a letter addressed to the President of the European Commission, published on the Truth Social platform.

The Italian government has also reacted to this announcement in a statement, pointing out that “closely follows the ongoing negotiations between the EU and the United States, fully supporting the European Commission’s efforts, which will be intensified in the coming days.”

The executive led by Giorgia Meloni expressed “confidence in the goodwill of all parts to reach a fair agreement that strengthens the West as a whole.”
