A beat Japan by 3 sets to 0, partials of 25/17, 25/18 and 25/20, this Sunday (13), for the women’s volleyball, winning their eighth triumph followed in the competition – there were ten wins and a defeat in the early three weeks.
With the positive result in the third place in the final match of the qualifying phase, the green and yellow team, which had already secured place in the quarterfinals, confirmed at least the second place overall in the table and will only face the best selection of the current and only tormentor in the tournament, in an eventual decision. The opponent of the next phase will be known after the end of the round.
Despite the absence of the tip, the main scorer of the green and yellow team in the competition, which suffered a meniscus injury in the match with France, the national team made their best match in the competition and imposed on the direct dispute for the tournament vice-leadership, with great performance by lifter Roberta and fundamental points of the tip Julia Bergmann.
Packed after the triumph over, Brazil started better and, with tactical organization and aggressive looting, soon opened 5-2 advantage in the first set. With a good volume of play, coach José Roberto Guimarães’s team expanded the advantage to 12-6. With the seki lifter -while on the Brazilian side Roberta was free to vary the plays -Japan could not build and made mistakes. Dominant, the Brazilian opened 20 to 11 and administered the advantage to close the set in 25 to 17.
The Japanese returned more attentive in the second partial and, for the first time, led the score 4-2, forcing the withdrawal and with Ishikawa loosening more in the game. Brazil reacted, sought the draw and, with right withdrawals from Roberta, became the match 8-7, noting three more points in a row of attack to open good advantage.
Despite the start of set more balanced than the previous one, the withdrawal made a difference in favor of Brazilians, who opened 17 to 11 on the scoreboard, still with the heavy attacks of Rosamaria, Gabi and Julia Bergmann. Without giving up, the Japanese touched on the score -20 to 17 -but the concentration and strong blockade Brazilian prevailed: 25 to 18.
Overwhelming, Zé Roberto’s team gave Japan a chance. A Rosamaria Ace left visitors with 3-1 advantage at the beginning of the third set. With a discreet performance so far, Ishikawa tried to command the hostess reaction, which touched by 6 to 5, but Bergmann’s heavy hand was still entering the opposing court and Brazil opened 15 to 10.
The Japanese national team grew in the match and reducing the Brazilian advantage to 18 to 16, but the blockade returned to work and Julia Kudiesss made 20 to 16. Despite the improvement of the home team, Green and Yellow Set kept focus and collective organization, managing the advantage to close the match 25-20.
