The 190 service was down between Saturday night (12), and the dawn on Sunday (13). The telephone number is used to trigger the PM in emergency cases. The blackout began around 11 pm and the service was restored at 3:30 am, according to the Rio de Janeiro State Military Police (PMERJ). The folder states that there was no damage because, as soon as the problem was found. PMERJ used its official internet channels to inform about the system blackout. “If necessary, the population should contact us through the 190RJ application, as a communication alternative,” he posted, guiding how to download the application on Android or iOS versions.
Number 190 is a direct channel to notify police emergencies, such as crimes ongoing, and request help in violence or risking people’s integrity.
State military police advise to use the channel also to communicate serious accidents and in cases that require immediate intervention by the PM. The channel may also be used for allegations of suspicious activities and domestic violence.
