After the 2-0 win over, this Saturday (12), in Maracanã, the coach publicly criticized the striker, who was vetoed from the match for disciplinary reasons. At a news conference, the coach classified the player’s attitude as “unfortunate” and stated that the behavior of the athlete “has been ridiculous.”
Peter’s absence among those related had already drawn attention during the week. According to Filipe Luís, the decision was motivated by the attitude of the attacker in training. “It was Pedro’s behavior and attitude during the week. It was unfortunate, he was ridiculous to me,” he said. “Of course Pedro has personal problems with the board, with the club. But it is not now that he was training very badly.”
The coach pointed out that the center forward disrespected a principle that considers fundamental in the team: the dedication in training. “What he did was a lack of respect. His attitude in training broke up with what we believe as a commission and as a group. I didn’t hesitate to leave him off the list because this kind of behavior can contaminate the cast,” he said. According to Filipe Luís, the decisive episode occurred last Wednesday (9), when Pedro left training earlier alleging tiredness. This Saturday, before the game, the player went to the lawn and received the support of part of the fans.
The coach said he awaits a change of attitude of the attacker. “I hope he reflects, to apologize to his companions and be Pedro again. It’s not just a lack of respect for the group, but with himself. A player who wants to get to the team and competing in another World Cup can not negotiate a minute of training. Lacked respect for the fans, who expect the best Pedro after the injury, and with the club, who pays his salary,” he concluded.
