An operation of the Civil Police carried out on Saturday afternoon (12) on properties of Diego Luiz Gois Passos, in the Boa Água Community, rural Rio Branco, resulted in the arrest of two family members and the seizure of firearms. Diego, accused of running over and killing lawyer Juliana Chaar, was at the scene, but managed to escape moments before the arrival of the teams.
The action was coordinated by delegates Alcino Júnior and Cristiano Bastos and was supported by the helicopter of the Integrated Center for Air Operations (Ciopaer). The search and seizure warrants were issued by the Guarantees Court and fulfilled in two properties linked to the investigated family.

During the searches, the police found a shotgun at Diego’s cousin residence and, outside the property of her husband, located a pistol and a revolver. The couple was arrested in the act for illegal possession of a firearm and taken to the Central Flagrant Police Station (Defla), where the legal proceedings were performed.
According to police, Diego’s escape was possible due to difficult access to the region and the possibility that he was warned of the arrival of the teams. Nevertheless, searches continue and new steps should occur in the coming days.
The operation represents an advance in the investigations surrounding the case, which gained great repercussion after the death of Juliana Chaar in June, leaving a bar from the capital. Diego Passos’s temporary arrest was upheld by the court this week.
